Self Will or God’s Will?

By Rob Albright

The young man in Luke 15:11-24 left his father’s home and wasted his life away from the influence of the father. This is a picture of what happens today when one leaves the Lord and lives a life of self will instead of God’s will.
The young man found out that being away from the father was not all that great. He wasted his life, his money, and his self-respect. No one seemed to care what happened to the young man --- but God cares. The young man remembered how good he had it at home and decided to go back. He came back to the father in a penitent state of mind and said, “Father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.” (Lk. 15:21)
You can see the father saw him coming back, had compassion and welcomed him back home.
When self will is replaced with God’s will, good things are going to happen.
