Paul wrote: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith" (Rom. 1:16-17).
Application: there is no obstacle (failing) in one's spiritual or moral life the message of hope can't overcome. The only reason for a continued failing in both these areas is because a person chooses not to obey Jesus as Lord (cf. Luke 6:46). The simplicity of this remark does not overlook one psychological, self-imposed barrier, it only looks at the ease of the Lord’s invitation given to us (cf. Matthew 11:28-30).
Righteousness is not what obstacle or mountain a person can avoid or climb as he or she moves in the right direction, but one's trust in the Lord, one step taken at a time, reliance on Him that is greater than all.
Begin with answering this question: What must I do to be saved? The answer: believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved; repent and be baptized for the remission of sins, and one receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, God's seal unto the day of redemption. This is (1) a response of the heart, (2) an action of the will, (3) and the result of both. RT
